The TFW Story

The Training For Warriors program was founded over 20 years ago by internationally recognized fitness and martial arts expert Martin Rooney. More than 500,000 athletes have taken part in his programs, and he has prepared hundreds of athletes for the UFC, NFL, NBA, MLB, WNBA, Major Division I colleges, and the Olympics. Rooney is also COO of the Parisi Speed School.

TFW dojos are located all over the world including US, Mexico, Canada, Europe, Australia, Middle East.

 The TFW system of training and coaching is well documented in published books, speaking events, annual seminars, generous online resources for dojo owners, and professional certifications that TFW Coaches go through.

The evolution of the TFW program has made Martin Rooney's training system accessible to everyone who is not a professional or Olympic athlete! Here at TFW Longmont, we work all ages (teenagers through 70s) and fitness levels. The training system is scalable for all abilities (and disabilities). We use the TFW daily/weekly/annual programming per Rooney's system because it's based on exercise periodization science and is proven to get results.

TFW Coaches are certified in the TFW program, as well as a variety of specialties including nationally accredited personal training programs, martial arts, group fitness, Olympic lifting, yoga, heart-rate based training, corrective exercise, nutritional counseling, and more.

Most important to the Coaching at TFW is the personal development that takes place within the student family. TFW Coaching is relationship-based and students are friends and co-creators, not numbers.

TFW Longmont is proud to have a variety of coaches from varying backgrounds who can relate to students' real-life challenges at home, in the office, with relationships, and in life outside the ego-driven bubble of the fitness industry.

Martin Rooney's theory on relationship-based coaching can be read in his book "Coach to Coach" (available on Amazon and everywhere else) as well as in his most recent book "High Ten."

Safety is a top priority at TFW. There are a number of popular training techniques that are not part of Rooney's TFW system because the cost outweighs the benefit when it comes to injury potential. We strive for the longevity of our physical bodies.

OUR COACHES

Head Coach Kristy Neary is a Certified Personal Trainer through NASM, Corrective Exercise Specialist Certified, Level I and II Training For Warriors Certified and 200 Hour Certified Yoga Teacher. But more importantly, Coach Kristy is passionate about motivating her students to find the best version of themselves—through safe, no-nonsense training. With a background in corporate finance and a love for kickboxing, Coach Kristy knows how to fire you up!

Coach Brian proudly leads our 5:45 am training and Personal Training ; he is USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach Certified Level I, II, Level I and II Training For Warriors Certified, Tactical Strength and Conditioning Certified and USA Weightlifting SafeSport Certified. Coach Brian is a local firefighter, electrician and flag football coach for his two little boys. Coach Brian brings with him a background in Football, Wrestling, USA Track and Field and Weightlifting, and BMX racing. Coach Brian experienced his own weight loss transformation as a young adult and loves to help others do the same.

Coach Katy is a Certified Personal Trainer through NASM, Level I and II Training For Warriors Certified, and Barre Above certificate holder… soon to be Brain Gym and Corrective Exercise Specialist Certified. Coach Katy brings with her a background in dance, music and nutrition —which she utilizes to help her students stay motivated, safe and most importantly, enjoy their training.

Coach Kathy is a Certified Personal Trainer through NASM and Certified in Level I and II Training For Warriors. Coach Kathy taught elementary age students throughout her career and mentored future teachers. She is passionate about helping students of all ages and levels see their potential -and put it to use in and outside of the dojo.
